Here are the draft minutes for the October Meeting.  Following draft is a tentative agenda for this years Squirrel Camp.

 

         

 

JLR OCTOBER MINUTES (DRAFT) OCTOBER 6, 2005
1. Meeting call to order 7:00 PM by Kenneth Morris
Role call: Charlie and Patty Powell, Dewayne and Hannah Ashe, Kenneth and Cathy Morris, Bob and Vicki Pryor, Gary Tehan, Craig Engle, Johnny Shaffer, Roger Witt, John Cole, Dave Anderson and Terry Healy.
Introduction of guests: Clay Stivers
Min. Approval and corrections: Corrections were made to the minutes and Dewayne made a motion to accept minutes, Johnny 2nd.  Motion carried
Reports:
President: Sorry I could not be here I am off being trained for the state will see you next month at the meeting and squirrel camp. Our web site is getting a lot of mail. I get a lot of email inquiries and questions, which I answer or forward on. If I forward mail to you please let me know when you have addressed the mail. I usually keep the original correspondence open until I know it has been taken care of. Thanks to those of you who have helpe answer questions.
Vice President: Ken gave shoot reports.  He did not have reports for February/Rifle, April and May/Archery, and February and March/hawk and knife.
Secretary: Cathy read an email from Rita Lurvey stating that she will be booshway ath the midwest Rendezvous in Monroe Wi. in July 2007.  She invited all club members to attend.
Treasurer: Dave reported that $162 was deposited today and balance is $1818.59.  Dave reported that the insurance is due soon and will be $500-600.  Dave reported that he is updating the member list and some still owe dues. Dave is hoping to have Newsletter out soon.
Shirts: Charlie reported that he sold a couple of shirts at the last shoot.  Reported that he had some and they are in different colors.
OLD BUSINESS
Squirrel Camp: Dates for Squirrel Camp will be Nov. 11-13, 2005.  Members can start setting up on Wednesday.  Site needs mowing and Dewayne said he would mow.
Hooters: William will see that the hooters are delivered.
 Wood: William reported that wood needs to be cut and stacked. (It was later decided that Sunday, Oct. 9 will be a workday and wood would be cut and stacked on that day)
Water: The water tank will be cleaned on October 9 workday.  Johnny will take care of filling the tank for Squirrel Camp.
Class for situational woods walk: Dave I. was not at the meeting.  He was going to check with Leroy about this event.  Ken will contact Dave to see how plans are progressing.
Events: Craig presented an agenda of events for Friday and Saturday. (Included as attachment to these minutes).  Craig has spent $110 on prizes already and Dave will be reimbursing him for this amount.
Meal: Saturday @ 5:30: Pot Luck Hot Cast Iron Food
Prizes: Craig has spent $110 on prizes already and Dave will be reimbursing him for this amount.  Everyone agreed that members should start looking at their talents and help by donating hand made or other items for prizes.
Other: Sunday October 9, will be a workday starting at 9:00 am.  Wood will be cut and stacked for Squirrel Camp and the tank that holds the water will be cleaned.

Nov. conflicts with squirrel camp do we need one the 6th? Members agreed that it will be decided on November 3 at the regular JLR meeting whether to have a workday on the 6th.
Youth Day: John reported that Youth day is still pending due to no insurance
Trade Faire: William reported that the Trade Faire is still pending.  He will make a decision in the next 2 weeks.
Members were reminded to use  the new road.  There is a cable across the road and the combination lock has the same combination.  Don't forget to lock it on the way out.
2006 Rendezvous
Clarify exact dates:   Club rendezvous dates are 23-26 February, 2006.
If there is no trade faire early set up for those members who usually come from trade faire can be on Wednesday however, it also depends if hooters are set up in which case they may come earlier..
Prizes: Request all club members help donate prizes for the events.  We already have a gun for a community raffle. 
Events: Dave I. was not at the meeting to discuss events or games.
Games: Craig asked if it might possible to buy a stuffed turkey for a prize.  Charlie said he would check on a price.
Hooters/Water: No discussion

 

Med tech and first aid kit: Charlie said he would get with Bill Brook about this.
Camp feed: After discussion Charlie made a motion that we have a beef roast.  Patty 2nd the motion and the motion carried.
Club members decided that they would like for Jackie to do the camp feed.  Other club members will help with setting up the fly, digging the refuge holes, etc.
Other: no discussion
NEW BUSINESS
There were no new members to be voted in this month.
December gathering: After discussion William made a motion to have a December gathering and Terry 2nd the motion.  Motion carried.  Patty reported that Laurie was planning a party for Dewayne around December.  Dewayne reported that it would be like a weekend campout.  Discussion that this could be our gathering.  No decision was made because there were no details from Laurie.
December work day falls on 11h are we going to have one: Members thought it was to early to decide this.
Winterizing the meeting place: William stated that the meeting place did need winterizing.  The plastic needs to be replaced.  William made a motion that the plastic be replaced, Dave 2nd and the motion was carried.

7am: Squirrel Season Starts.
     - Florida hunting license required.

 

10am: Archery woods walk/situational trek/edged weapons course (bow/arrows, hawk & knife, fire kit optional)

 

1pm: Archery shoot in the field (round 2)

 

3pm: Tomahawk throw in camp (round 2)

 

3pm: Hawk off starts (finals at 5pm)

 

5pm: Prizes awarded /squirrel judging - bring your squirrel.

 

5pm: Chili cookoff - bring your chili.

 

5pm: Hawk off finals.

 

5:30pm: Cast Iron Party - Bring your hot cast iron.

 

6:30pm: Camp fire: oysters and beer

 

7:00pm Trade Blanket

 

8pm: Cards and Guts - bring your quarters.
