OLD BUSINESS

Blue Match Program progress was reviewed by Pat.  Everything has been submitted to Joe Crimmins for the NRLHF to administer.

Firewood was brought up by Bob.   Bob asked William if the matter could be dealt with at the next meeting.   William said next month would be fine about getting the firewood gathered, split, stacked, and covered.  Charlie asked William if there was enough firewood for the Squirrel Camp, and William said that there was enough stacked wood for Squirrel Camp.

New membership was brought up by Dave A.  Pat said she had received that money and application.  Hutch had also sent in the money and application, but his friend Van had not sent in his, and for information contact Hutch by email.

The Ochlockonee River Rendezvous was brought up Pat, the Booshway.  She requested that people sign up for prizes, hopefully hand made.  Right now Charlie will contribute a bow, Pete will do a horn, and Dave A will make a lantern.  Little things are really needed.  William added that he was going to Williamsburg, and could pick up a number of prizes.

Pat still needs 3 lb. coffee cans for all those with the empty cans.

The Squirrel Camp at Ochlockonee River from November 6-9, 2008 was presented by Criag, and gave out his information sheet, similar to last year’s sheet.  The Squirrel Camp is $5 to camp, and rendezvous rules and dress are encouraged.  The competitions include tomahawk throw and Archery shoot on Friday and Saturday, with chili cook off at 5 PM on Friday including a prize for the best chili.  The hot cast iron dinner is 5 PM on Saturday.  The prizes for all competitions will be awarded at the Saturday dinner.  And yes there will be a 4 legged stool up for raffle.  One have of the crowd said Roger should not be allowed to participate, and the other half said the first half should be quiet as he buys most of the raffle tickets.

Al and Verna Benslay came to the club meeting to present the 2009 Southeastern Rendezvous that will be March 27 to April 4, 2009 with early set up starting on March 25, 2009.  Al gave a thorough presentation of the Southeast Rendezvous.  The Long Rifles are to go there on 10-25-08 to review the site for needed work for the shooting events, which they will host.  The address is 24 Babbs Mill Rd, Hampton, GA 30228.  It is about 3 miles west of Lovejoy, Georgia.  See Google maps.   He had aerial photographic images of the site and a series of ground level photographs.   The site is a county park that is used for Civil War reenactments and had been used for a battle.  There are 2 showers there already, and 3 more are to be added hopefully for the Southeastern Rendezvous.  Al said he needs help for just about everything except the flatlander gate.  He will decide later about the gate captain for the recreator gate.  Duane is the scribe and Pat is the secretary.  The park understands reenactors, and they are happy to have the rendezvous. There will be a number of flatlanders, and the organization that runs the park will do that gate and take a percentage of the flatlander fees.  Please contact Allen Benslay about what you can do at cell 912-596-2108 or email abenslay@yahoo.com..  He will be at the Eastern Rendezvous, so wait a couple of weeks before calling.  Al said he has tax exemption for projects with Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart.  There is a water outlet, and wood has already been reserved, 10 cords, and more can be ordered.  Slab wood has also been ordered, and the local Civil War club will build shelters for the hooters as they can keep them for their use.  Al said he already has some water tanks, and would get the water tanks around with a trailer, however William and Gary et al said that a plastic pipe could be laid on the ground to some camp sites fairly cheaply and easily, and it has been done before with no complaints.  There is a rendezvous web site coming shortly to the internet, and it will have a link to the local county web site for local information.  The site is mostly mowed grass and is fairly small so shooting sites are limited.  There are also few trees for a woods walk

.Tall Timber’s Youth Hunting Field Day will be on 10-04-08 from 10 AM to 3 PM.  Participants should be there before 9 AM.  See John for information.  John was not sure if lunch would be provided.  It was provided last time.  John feels that Tall Timber will provide some supplies, such as powder and lead balls, but what caliber and whether it would be Pyrodex or black powder is not known.  Bring your own powder for 100 balls and caps etc., and allow 30 grains per shot.  The youth should not have heavy loads.  Bob said he will not be there, and John can only be there part of the time at best.  Ron will bring the balloons.  John added that the balloons could be put on wires in front of the hay bale back stop, or what ever everyone wants to do.

NEW BUSINESS

There was none.

Bob motioned to adjourn and Duane seconded.  The ayes were unanimous at 8:05 PM.

Bob was clean up.
