MEETING 04-09-09

Dave I called the meeting to order at 7:07 PM.

Roll Call: John, Gary, Jan, Duane, Lori, Nancy, Ken, Cathy, Bob, Charlie, Dave A, Dave I, and Ron

Dave I asked that the minutes be accepted, and Gary nominated and Jan seconded for acceptance.  The ayes were unanimous.

President’s report – Dave I had nothing to report.

Vice President’s report – Roger had nothing to report.

Secretary’s report – Ron said he will continue working on the master list of members.

Treasure’s report – Dave A said that after processing dues payments our balance stood at $4681.86.  Those were the dues submitted by Smiley Joe and Charlie.  We need to get out a News Letter.  Roger will submit an article on the Club Rendezvous, and Patty can submit an article on the Southeastern Rendezvous.  Bob asked about his Range Officer Card from the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association.  Dave A said Bob should call NMLRA, but Bob countered he did call, and they said Dave A had the card.  Dave A said he would check.

OLD BUSINESS

Cheryl’s property was brought up.  William had seen the property, and said it had heavy growth.  He did not believe he could cut his way through it to the more open rear area.  Charlie motioned to not lease the property, and Bob seconded.  The ayes were unanimous.  Cathy said Cheryl should be called.  Dave I said he would call.

John went over the Beau Turner Youth Day at the Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center on Mach 7, 2009.  We were there and had a ball.  The weather was great this time, and it was a great improvement over the windy cold of the last event.  We got over run with shooters again, but were able to handle everyone.  The helicopter landed this time, and there were donuts handed out when we arrived.  Gary added that John talked just fine the whole day.  The whole event had a good turn out.  Mission San Luis was there and came over to see us.  Bob said we could use a better berm.  It is still the uprooted tree with some additional dirt.  We received no shooting supplies, but did pick up some shooting glasses and ear plugs.  John said we should submit a bill for used supplies.  Gary and Duane said they believed we should donate the supplies and time.  Charlie said we should just say we are donating our time and supplies.  John reminded we needed to put down the hours we worked for the Youth Day.  We also might get some special trinkets or a special hunt on some of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s land holdings.

Charlie said he was talking for Patty for the Southeastern Rendezvous.   Patty thanked everyone for their help with the rendezvous.  Jim Hamilton and Bob and Duane set up the range.  Duane was clerk, Patty was Scribe, and Charlie was Segundo.  Bob ran the range, and Ron and Jan helped with various activities.  Ricky Connell came to the Rendezvous and joined the Longrifles.  Also joining are Wendy and Dee.  Bob brought up that someone else besides a lustrous Jefferson Longrifle had joined the exclusive ramrod shooting club at the rendezvous.

NEW BUSINESS

Bob said we needed a work day to clean up the area around the range.  The club agreed to start at 10 AM prior to the shoot and Jan will provide lunch, maybe even venison sausage.

Charlie wished to thank Jim Hamilton for taking 2 boys that Bill Lugar, their grandfather who could not get them to the Southeastern Rendezvous.  He out fitted them and also provided firearms etc. and guidance for the shooting matches, the tomahawk and knife throwing, and archery matches.  There were also 2 moms with their kids at the rendezvous.

Dave A mentioned the Whitewater has 5 shoots a year.  They have one on Memorial Day, which is too hot, but the fall match is Columbus Day, which will be cooler.  They have invited us and have come to see us, so those that are interested can contact Magpie or John.

Charlie also brought up the topic of a permanent site for the Southeastern Rendezvous.  There has been trouble getting sites, and few are volunteering for Boshway.   The problems are planes flying overhead, and dogs barking, etc.  The Eastern Rendezvous has 2 sites they use, but the weather can be a problem.  Other Rendezvous have even larger problems with weather.

Cathy said the next Southeastern Rendezvous is in November of 2010 at North Carolina in the Yadkin Valley.  (The flyer given out by Wade Reynolds has the Southeastern Rendezvous on 11-06-10 to 11-14-10 at 297 Reavis Road, Yadkinville, North Carolina 27055.  Wade’s phone number is 276 694 4065, and the email address is Calicowade@hughes.net.)

Dave I asked for a motion to close the meeting, and Jan motioned to close the meeting with Duane seconding.  The ayes were unanimous at 7:50 PM.

Roger did clean up.
