MEETING 08-06-09
Dave A called the meeting to order at 7:50 PM.
Roll Call: Gary and Gary, Jan, Cathy, Ken, Vickie, Bob, Buck, David A, Briana, John, Patty, and Ron.
Dave A asked if the minutes be accepted. John motioned and Gary seconded. The aye votes were unanimous, except for John’s no.
President’s report – David A said Doug A wanted to join the club. Dave I called and said he could not get here. David A went on to say the grilled venison was mighty fine, which was seconded by all there.
Vice President’s report – John said that he won the rifle shoot and Ron was second. Scott McNutt won the archery and John was second, and Linda was third. John won the hawk and knife throw. Gary said the Sportsman Warehouse closed in Tallahassee as their lease was up and they could get out the lease without a penalty in contrast to their other locations around the country. Gary also related that Bass Pro was supposed to open a store in Tallahassee.
Treasurer’s report – Dave A said our current balance is $4608.53 with $35 from Terry’s dues and minus $324.75 in disbursements to yield a net of $4319 or so and then after members pay for the black powder order, this should produce a new net of around $4600. John asked when do we pay our nonprofit license fees. David A said we pay that in the spring as well as our insurance fees. Dave A went on to say we still did not have the stories yet for the new letter. Roger was to do the club rendezvous, and Patty and Ron the Southeastern Rendezvous. Buck related that the coming Southeastern Rendezvous in the fall of 2010, be sure to take long johns. Bob said Wade said we might make the Southeastern Rendezvous a permanent rendezvous in NC in the fall if the property owner agrees. Dave A said Fort Toulouse in Alabama would also be a good site. Bob added that we could do a Florida Southeastern Rendezvous in the fall as well.
Secretary’s report – Ron said that had gotten mail from foundations looking for donations, but there was no consensus to respond. I went over the letter sent to Edgar as requested by Jan. The club thought the letter was proper. One final aspect of the club rules was gone over, and the club decided to keep prorated dues if the situation comes up. Squeeze Box, Chuck Hamsa, sent in a Newsletter for Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. Finally there was an email from a Robin J Irvine from England, who called himself Maverick at their rendezvous in Wales, United Kingdom. He requested a token of the club and John said send a medallion. I said I have some extras and would mail him one.
OLD BUSINESS
Dave A brought up the Blue Jacket Match. Pat said that Rita presented the horn and strap to the winner Ernie Villegas, and he was very appreciative of the prize and the award for 2008. Pat went on to say that we could alternate between Pete and Gerald for the horn in the future to avoid taking advantage of them. We will give Pete recognition for creating the horn and strap in an article coming in the Muzzle Blasts. There is also an article in Muzzle Blasts on squirrels that is coming.
Pat said the Squirrel Camp will be 11/11-14/09. She will try to do the Squirrel Camp. We should move the competition to another day than the first day of the squirrel season in Florida. That unfortunately will make it a week before Thanksgiving. We will need to clarify the situation in the next few meetings.
John said that Tall Timber Youth Day is 09-12-09. We need to get as many people as we can. Bob said we could cast ball for the day if we want. John added we can get by with 3, but 6-8 would be nice. The Beau Turner Youth Day is 02-10-10.
NEW BUSINESS
Pat said the Club Rendezvous may not have Ruth and Joe, as Ruth wants to go to an Everglades rendezvous that is the last week of February and our Rendezvous will not allow them time to dry out and pack. Ruth’s throat surgery was successful. Then Dave A asked Pat who was the Boshway of the Rendezvous, only to hear it was he, tee he tee he. We could do the Rendezvous in the first week of March, but then other people may not come, and the bugs could start coming out. Dave A decided to keep the Club Rendezvous the same as last year, and would be 2/18-23/10 from Thursday to SunI don't Know or careday.
Pat said Larry died when he was hit head on by someone in the passing lane going over a hill. She said she would send flowers and a card.
At 8:35 PM Dave A asked for a motion to close the meeting and Bob motioned and Jan seconded. Everyone voted aye.
Bob did clean up.
Ammendment emailed 09-27-09-
Pat wanted the minutes corrected to show that she was not doing the the Squirrel Camp for 2009. The the minutes were so amended. Also William wanted the minutes amended to show that people could still hunt on his land, but that the hunting club for the land was no more. However, someone amended the minutes were already amended for that in that it is gone. Oh well, easy come easy go. I will get my paper records and reconstruct it with complete amendments later. Ron
